So far this school year there has been many changes. One of these changes has lead to many conflicts between students and school staff. This change is all of the restrictions that have been put on the iPad this school year. The change that is very bothersome most is the App Store restriction. We are no longer allowed to have the App Store and games on our iPads. Plenty of students dislike the change, a lot are saying that it is stupid and unnecessary and it shows no respect toward us students. There are also students who actually like the idea of the App Store restrictions, they say it takes away distractions so they could really focus on their schoolwork. It sucks, honestly there are apps that do help a lot and now we can’t get them. What if I’m done with my homework and I have nothing to do and I feel like playing some games? I can’t even do that because we don’t have the App Store on our iPads anymore. It’s not even the App Store that is the most annoying, it’s having to log in to the internet that sucks the most. Having to log into the internet constantly is like repeating something you say over and over and it’s REALLY annoying. Even if you walk two steps from your last class you have to sign in to the internet.

I wonder what even made Abilene High School think it was even a good idea to put a passcode on to the internet. “Oh my god this is to tedious and unnecessary!” said Junior Colton McVan. Why do we even have to log in to the internet? It’s not like we can even look stuff up that would be inappropriate or get on Twitter during class. Overall the change is pretty stupid, we were just fine with not being able to look up certain websites. I asked students in the lunch- room if they would rather have the iPad restrictions or not; three out of five students say they absolutely hate the iPad restrictions. Obviously a majority of the school doesn’t like the change – should the school do something about it? Hopefully they do because I’m tired of having all of these restrictions on our iPad, and the students of AHS are too.
