This past weekend, the Abilene Cowboys took second at the Herington McMillin Invitational, falling short to their rivals the Chapman Irish. Although the team lost, the Cowboys had some very impressive individual performances. Will Stroda, Dakota Whitley, and Dakota Laun all went undefeated and took first place in their weight classes. We saw some promising performances from Austin Wuthnow and Nick Brooks. Wuthnow started out with three straight wins, but ended the day on two losses, finishing 4th in his weight class at 145lb. Nick Brooks lost his first match, but then bounced back winning his next four, finishing in 3rd place. When asked about how the weekend went, Brooks said, “Chapman surprised us, but we look forward to a future dual with them. We were also missing a few key wrestlers that may have made a difference between first and second, but overall we performed well.” The Cowboys will look to bounce back next Thursday at Concordia.
