The Cowboys came out strong, by the end of the first quarter it was 13-6, Cowboys up.  The Cowboys were still up at the end of the third quarter and they were playing well against Andover, they were up 46 to 41.  At the end of the game, the Cowboys lost 58 to 51. Leading scorers included Juniors Preston Boyd (number 44) who scored 13 and James Mayden (number 23) scored 11.  They accounted for 47% of the Cowboy scoring. Senior Noah Wildman added nine points to the Cowboy effort, with Senior Tucker Robinson right behind at eight.  Junior Damian Hartman (number 3) drained two threes for six and Parker Gentry (number 24) put up four points. The Cowboy Defensive game stayed fairly consistent, allowing an average of 15 points a quarter.  The fourth quarter was not pretty; only  5 points were scored.  An accumulated 18 turnovers and 13 fouls was also detrimental to the Cowboy cause.

However, the Abilene Cowboys bounced back with at 53-43 win against No. 1 seeded Goodland Cowboys. Abilene came out strong leading 15-2 after the first quarter, but were outscored in the second and third quarter with Goodland trimming the lead to as little as two points until Abilene went on a run to seal the game.  Junior Preston Boyd and Noah Wildman combined for 33 of Abilene’s points en route to the win.

Finally the Cowboys took on the No. 6 Liberal Redskins in the 5th place game. The Redskins jumped out to an early lead and were up on the Cowboys 23-31. The Cowboys came out of halftime and switched to a zone defense that stalled the Redskins and allowed the Cowboys to take a 43-41 lead heading into the 4th quarter. In the 4th the Cowboys extended their lead and closed out the Redskins for a 65-48 win. Abilene was lead by Junior Preston Boyd with 18 points, while Seniors Noah Wildman and Tucker Robinson had 15 points each in the win.
