Last weekend the Cowboy Wrestling posse encountered some of the hardest competition this year.  Eight of the 13 Abilene wrestlers did not place in their respective weight classes, but everyone put up a great effort at Basehor-Linwood.

Top placers/scorers included Will Stroda(113), Trevor Casteel(132), Dakotah Whiteley(170), and Trey Hoerner(182).

Stroda is 25-1 this season and won by decision in his final two matches; and the only Abilene wrestler to take first place in his respective weight group at Basehor-Linwood.  He scored 30.00 points.

Casteel is 24-4 and placed 5th, but says he should’ve done better—he went 3-2 for the day giving 15.00 points to the Cowboy effort.

Dakotah Whitley is 19-7; he pounded the competition in four of his eight matches, ended the day at fifth place, and scored 23.00 team points.

Trey Hoerner is 17-2 and was too injured to wrestle in the championship round over the weekend.  He reluctantly took second.

The Cowboy wrestling team is still on course to send some men to state:  Go Pokes!
