On May 3rd and 4th, the Abilene Cowboys hosted the regional tennis meet. The team had high hopes of qualifying multiple individuals for state which is held in Winfield this year. Unfortunately, only half of the Cowboys will be advancing to State.

For singles, Jase West will be moving on after finishing 3rd place in regionals. He had an impressive outing in the tournament going 3-1, only falling to Andrew Snell from McPherson. Brayden Mohn fell just short of qualifying for state, finishing 7th. He went 2-2 on the day, losing two tough matches to Smokey Valley.

For doubles, Luke Kohler and Cody Schiffner will be advancing to state after placing 5th. They had an impressive outing going 4-1, only losing a tough match to McPherson in a tiebreaker. Mark Cooper and Tim Barbieri also came up short, finishing 7th. They went 2-2 through the tournament, losing to McPherson followed by a close loss to their teammates.

The remaining Cowboys will look to continue their success at state this Friday and Saturday.
