The AHS Singers, an audition-based choir group at Abilene High School, will host their biennial Singer Market that is open to all on Wednesday, December 17, from 3:00 to 6:45 p.m. in the AHS auditorium. The market will take place right before the 7:00 p.m. Christmas concert featuring both AMS and AHS choirs.
The market will offer a wide variety of handmade and locally sourced items for suggested donation, including: local honey, dog treats, ornaments, jewellery, crocheted goods, wood-crafted pieces, and an assortment of baked treats, plus much more.
Funds raised will help offset the cost of the choir’s spring break trip to New York City in 2026, during which students will visit major landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, and perform at Carnegie Hall.
“Carnegie Hall is such an amazing experience, and any help at all to get our students there is greatly appreciated,” choir director Danette Whiteley said.
The students will also see a Broadway show of their choice and meet with composers, so the market will bring them a step closer to their goal.
“All the funds we make from the market will go toward our trip to New York City, which is a huge opportunity for us to perform, learn, and grow together as a group,” Weltha said.
