Homecoming Week is upon us. The candidates found out last Friday at an all-school assembly that they were selected by their senior classmates with a heartfelt introduction from their parents from behind closed doors.
“I was emotional,” candidate Rylee Miller shared about the moment she heard her name.
This year’s candidates are Caryss West, Grace Klockner, Magda Meneley, Riley Goodale, and Rylee Miller.
“I immediately knew it was my parents’ voices, and I thought the things they said were very sweet,” Riley Goodale said.
While there was much speculation on who was going to have the privilege of representing our school as a homecoming candidate, no one truly knew who would be selected.
“I was immediately shocked; I didn’t think I was going to be a candidate but I’m really grateful and super excited!” Caryss West said.
All the candidates will get to live inside of a fairytale for the week, thanks to the unique spirit day themes chosen by STUCO. The special days include pajama day, dream job, class colors, fantasy sports, and royalty, which is also the theme for Friday night’s game.
“I am excited to dress up with my fellow candidates and represent the school!” Magda Meneley said.
This week is about creating memories and celebrating school spirit for cheer captain Grace Klockner. She gets to experience this football game in a different way.
“I’m excited for the game and getting to be in the football student section for the first time,” Klockner said.
Candidates enjoy spending a bit of extra time together and taking in all the festivities.
“I’m really grateful to have this chance to get closer to these amazing candidates and remember my senior year with such a special moment,” Caryss West said.
During halftime at the game on Friday versus Rock Creek, AHS will find out who will be crowned Homecoming Queen for the class of 2026.
