With this being a year to vote in the general election on November 3rd, it means students can be the ones who make a change.
In Kansas, people must be registered 21 days before election day. For those who reached the age of 18 before October 13 and also registered to vote, you are eligible to cast a ballot in the 2026 general election.
Voters can vote for federal, state, and local government officials. These positions are our Senate, House, and Secretary of State. For Kansas Governor, the community could vote for Republican Candidate Ty Masterson or Democrat Cindy Holscher. For a complete list of candidates on the ballot click here.
To find out specifically where to vote, people can go to this link on the Dickinson County website. It can also be helpful to preview the candidates on the ballot before arriving so you know what to expect and can make a plan.
“I think you should do your own research about the candidates who are gonna be their voice in whatever office they elect them to, rather than just listen to what other people or advertisements tell them,” said 11th grade English teacher Mr. Wilkins.
Advanced voting is an option for voters who cannot physically vote at their polling location on Nov. 3. Employers are also required by law to provide time for employees to cast their ballot at local polling location on election day.
