Cowboys Bully Tigers for First Win

The Abilene Cowboys football team defeated the Clay Center Tigers 30-6 Friday night in Clay Center. The game looked to be competitive at the onset, with Clay Center converting on third down on the first drive. The Cowboys put a stop to that very quickly with an interception from senior Colton McVan for the Cowboys. The rest was history for Abilene, as James Mayden lit up the field with 5 touchdowns and 352 unofficial all purpose yards.

“We have to get better at the little things,” Coach Simpson went on to say after the game. “We played as a family tonight and we will continue to get better every game,” Mayden said of his team. It is clear that the team believes they are more talented than what they showed on Friday.

The Cowboys will be hosting the Panthers of Concordia on Friday, September 7th at 7pm. The Panthers are coming off a loss to the Wamego Red Raiders last Friday.
